About

Erika is a ceramic artist currently living in Lawrence, Kansas. Her ceramic practice starts with a fascination of the multifaceted nature of clay as she utilizes various techniques including the potters wheel, hand-building, and slip casting. Each piece is made by hand, and is a meditative process exploring the intricacies of utility and beauty. The hand painted surfaces and forms create a tactile narrative, drawing inspiration from the history of pottery, craft, gender, and nature. Her artistry is a reclamation of space, where femininity is celebrated as both delicate and resilient. Her work joins the decorative and functional, and invites you contemplate the beauty of domestic objects, encouraging a deeper connection to the items we use daily.

Erika studied ceramics at the Kansas City Art Institute, and has been a resident artist at the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary.
